Let us begin with some awesomely cute pandas.
I really love the running panda at about a minute in.
Now, this may go against the grain a little but I was recently introduced to the YouTube account Cute Things Exploding. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason for the desire to make cute things disappear in a puff of smoke, but naturally, a baby panda wasn’t far behind.
I was determined that my Etsy purchase would be a one off, because despite all the proof that Etsy can be addictive, I’m so not into gathering stuff.
Oops.
Here’s what I got from my second Etsy delivery:
This is a nifty little keyring type device that has space for tissues (a free pack came with the delivery as in the photo), plus a lipstick, or in my case some lip salve instead. On the back, there is space for something thin, like a business card or similar. I haven’t found anything to put in there yet, but my plan is to attach this to my keys to make it easy to find in my bag.

Plus, I can’t embed it but check out this picture of a lady hugging a panda. I could not be more jealous.
Finally, my dad forwarded this news story to me about pandas calling for mates. I refuse to believe that pandas “chirp” and “bleat.” I don’t know what noise they do make, but bleating? Really?
You’re all very well aware that I am marginally obsessed with pandas, but it’s become increasingly obvious recently that I am also fond of a few other animals… and they all begin with P!
I don’t know why it is, but animals that begin with that letter seem to have more of a chance of getting my adoration. There are exceptions to the rule, of course, as I like cows and I quite like hippos. There are also plenty of animals beginning with P that I don’t care for such as pythons and pirahnna fish.
You’ll remember how excited I was when I received my first Etsy purchase in the post, and welcomed Mr Panda to the home? I showed him to my mother who was impressed.
“Why don’t you make him a girlfriend?” she said. “You could get the materials from the craft shop, some felt, some stuffing, a bow to make it a girl. It would be really easy to do.”
“What you’re saying is, you want to make him a girlfriend, don’t you mum?”
I featured Mr Panda in the last Baby Panda Thursday, and his creator Sarah left a nice comment there as well. That led me directly to her Etsy page where Mr Panda was for sale.
Thus my introduction to Etsy was sealed.
I have seen and read lots of posts about packages from Etsy, and how they are pretty beautiful right down to the smallest detail. I’m not even slightly crafty when it comes to tactile things, so it was all quite exciting.
Thanks to Kara who pointed me towards the San Diego video page via Twitter. There are all the videos we had on the last Baby Panda Thursday, plus some more ridiculously cute ones. However, we must move on from the videos, as I am crazy jealous of the people who get to play with baby pandas for a living. Instead, let’s look at some more crafts and stuff.
I like this badge/button thing, and there are a couple of others available on Steppie’s Etsy page. The nerd one is also a good one! However, I’m not sure what you are supposed to do with badge/buttons? My bag is not a material made for piercing, and my coat is similarly uncooperative.
I don’t want to just rip a post directly from ZooBorns but it would be remiss of me not to use this week’s Baby Panda Thursday to publicise these crazy-cute panda videos.
The San Diego Zoo released all five of the baby panda exam videos, and all I can say is: I might die from the cuteness.
There was no BPT last week, so today we’ll have a bumper crop of panda goodness.
A little snuggly cutie.

Going a little bit more abstract, I wanted to point out these panda slippers. I’m not really sure about wearing a panda on your feet, but they are kinda cute.
Finally, this bit of origami work is awesomeness! We featured some panda creations before, but this one is new. Origami has always baffled me, but I love it.
Chris Packham has hit headlines for resurfacing an old argument of his, that pandas should be left to die out with dignity. This is bound to ruffle my feathers, because I am one of those people he so resoundedly sneers at, donating £3 a month because the panda is cuddly.
But why shouldn’t I?
In the original argument, Packham introduces his theory, pointing out that the panda lives on the poor nutrition of bamboo, and isn’t exactly “rabbit-like” when it comes to reproduction. But then he says:
Ah, stupid Thursdays. Here are some baby pandas to help us all through the day.

I also want to point out the latest ZooBorns post on pandas, which introduces us to the newest cub at the San Diego Zoo. Nick, over on Sidepodcast.com, said the cub looked suspiciously like George from Rainbow. It does too!
Here we go then, a selection of photos from the amazing A Perfect World of Pandas Flickr Group.

I’m not actually sure this one is a baby, but so fluffy!

Ah, the cuteness.
Firstly, you must, must, must check out these very cuddly panda bears, and whilst you are there, you must buy me one. (Thanks to Andy for the tip.)
Now, onto the good stuff:

Shock, horror, last Thursday was actually an acceptable day, as days go. I have a feeling today will revert to the usual Thursday fare, though, so Baby Panda Thursday it is!
Firstly, make sure you check out the latest Zoo Borns panda post because there’s all kinds of cuteness on there that shouldn’t be allowed.
Also, there is a superb set of panda photos on Flickr that are unfortunately not available for sharing. They are definitely worth looking at, though, and there are loads of them.
Ugh, Thursdays really are awful. Here’s some cuteness to cheer things up:

What is up with pandas hanging upside down from trees?
Remember I told you about the Zoo Borns site? They recently had a feature on a newborn Panda at Thailand’s Chiang Mai Zoo. It was too much of a baby to be cute and cuddly, but I figured ‘yay for the expanding panda population’. However, the site then posted an update featuring the same baby pandas just a week or so later, and boy are they cute now!
Time for some moving pictures, with YouTube videos (this time vetted for screaming women).
Don’t worry panda, I can’t work out what the football thing is all about either.
Baby panda wrestling.
This week is a crafty edition of the Baby Panda Thursday, as I’ve noticed a lot of photos of people being quite clever and making panda related fun stuff.
Firstly, a bizarre origami panda.
There are a couple of other views to show you how weird but also cute the panda is.
I had a quick search on Etsy for panda and there is a veritable feast of gifts and crafts on there. Here are just a few of my favourites.
Okay, now technically we’re taking a break from the norm here and looking at regular size pandas as well, but they are still cute, I promise.
There are quite a few webcams situated in zoos across the world, and that means you can often catch a glimpse of a panda or two. They tend not to do very much. I once watched a panda chewing on bamboo for ten minutes, went away for an hour, and came back to find it in exactly the same place.
I was looking around for some cute panda gifts - cuddly toys and the like, and found a veritable treasure trove on Cuddly Kingdom. I am particularly interested in the magnets, and the keyring.
Anyway, onto the good stuff.

It’s that time again. A little cuteness to brighten up your Thursday. And don’t forget if you like all kinds of animals, not just pandas, then there’s info here about a site you should check out.
Mmm, lunch.

If you are anything like me, you are quite partial to a cute and furry baby animal. Come on, admit it, you’ve had a look at one of the Baby Panda Thursday posts and gone: “Aww.” I know you have.
Therefore, this may be a site of interest to you. It’s called Zoo Borns, and it features cute pictures of ickle baby animals.
Don’t be put off by the fact that the front page is currently full of monkeys, there are a variety of different animals featured, and it’s updated frequently. Who knew there were so many zoos in the world?
Just a couple of pics this week as it’s somewhat hectic around here right now.

It is Easter this weekend, so no doubt there will be a lot of cuddly rabbits and baby chicks being the focus of attention. Let’s not forget our baby pandas though.

You know those really annoying games where you have to look after a pet - kinda like a Tamagotchi but more demanding? Well, if you’ve got a Nintendo DS, there’s a less annoying Baby Panda version!
Now to our regularly scheduled programming:

And finally, cuteness:
Three Baby Panda Thursdays in a row! I really must blog more. To celebrate, though, here are two Baby Panda pictures.

Today we’ve got pandas doing what they do best - eating.
Also, if you like Baby Panda Thursday, consider visiting new URL! Yes, alright, for now it just points to the category page of this very site, but this is how phenomenons start!
I am not usually a fan of Red Pandas, because let’s face it, they don’t really look like a panda, do they?
However, I will make the exception for this little guy:
According to the Brisbane Times, he was allowed out into his natural habitat at Sydney Zoo yesterday, having been born only 12 weeks ago.
Okay, it’s not exactly a catchy title, but why not? There are plenty of meme’s out there, and this one is, in my opinion, the best. Mostly because I thought of it, and also because it has pandas in it.
Pandas on a slide!!
Thursdays are rubbish, aren’t they? I’d go so far as to say they are worse than Monday.
With that being the case, I need a little bit of cute baby panda goodness to cheer me up. In case anyone feels the same, here you go:
If that’s not enough, here’s something else:

And if after all that, you’re feeling generous:

Well, I certainly feel better. How about you?
