Thoughts
Took a little while to get my head around this one, after the bitterness of Reputation. The first track is something of a similar vibe and I was worried we were going to be in for another hour of ranting at the enemy. Thankfully, Taylor seems to have mellowed a little, and this album is much more like 1989.
It’s long, though. Well over an hour and there are a few tracks I thought weren’t really necessary - probably a bit of filler. Drop those and it’s a really good album stacked full of great songs. A variety of moods and textures, but plenty of love and appreciation and a general feeling of we’re all in this together rather than the entire world hates me.
You Need to Calm Down gets consistently stuck in my head, though.
