Whitacre agreed to wear a wire and take recordings, all under the misguided impression that he would emerge from the investigation as the good guy. 0:09 What a great introduction to a film!
1:02 Is this like the 70s or something?
2:02 Didn’t realise George Clooney was a producer for this.
3:40 It’s like an Ocean’s 11 reunion.
4:53 Certainly a bit of a different character to Bourne.
7:51 Yay for Crichton getting a mention.
9:17 With a beard, he looks a bit like Ewan McGregor.
14:38 The girl sounds like Drew Barrymore.
18:59 I love living inside this guy’s head. He’s so random, he’s like me.
25:52 It’s good the FBI are asking why, because Mr C was just asking why and I didn’t have an answer.
29:07 That is quite a low tech way of bugging a phone call.
32:54 All of the technology seems old for 1992. Are we sure this isn’t really set in the 70s?
40:24 The Gluconate Guy. Does anyone know what gluconate is?
44:16 Eww. Ants in the bathroom.
47:04 Any film with philosophy about polar bears is fine in my book.
52:23 He’s getting good at this spying business now. 0014 indeed.
57:42 Interesting that the raid is the least important part of the film.
1:05:52 That man is worse at keeping a secret than even I am.
1:07:03 Which Tom Cruise movie was that? Film references inside films are not fair.
1:16:03 I like the second FBI guy. He has nice eyes.
1:26:22 It’s not looking good for Mark right about now.
1:30:37 The number he stole keeps creeping up and up. Every story should be embellished each time it is told.
1:39:42 Woah! Hair! Or lack of it.

Thoughts

I had never even heard of this film, knew absolutely nothing about it. Mr C and I sat down for what is becoming a regular film night, and this was a trailer that appealed to us, so we rented.

The film was not at all what I thought it would be from the trailer. Very strange throughout - but highly entertaining. It sort of twisted towards the end and I maybe would have preferred something else, but the facts are what they are, and I wasn’t left feeling disappointed which is the main thing.
