Conclusions
I think we only ended up watching this because we were looking up things Alice Eve had been in, took a look at the trailer, and saw that Wade from Hello Ladies was one of the friends. That sold it to us, although I think it’s easy-going nature and rom-com style was appealing after hauling our way through all the Harry Potters.
I wasn’t expecting great things, it looked like one of those comedies that was passable but forgettable. It was really, really good. If you look past the moments where an entire airport is ogling this woman, there are some really funny lines, some great concepts and a fantastic relationship between the four friends.
What was key was that the formula was the same as any rom-com (boy meets girl, boy and girl eventually get together, boy and girl hit an obstacle, boy and girl eventually work things out), but within that structure it was unpredictable. The ex-girlfriend, the airport chase, the ex-boyfriend, the scene in the bathroom, there were a lot of surprises (some better than others) and overall it was a lot of fun.
