West End LIVE 2022

Published July 11, 2022

An empty Trafalgar Square with early morning light skies

At the end of the June, the fabulous West End live celebration returned to the heart of London - two days of various musicals and productions putting on their best efforts to show the crowds what they can see in the West End at the moment. I missed keeping track of what was on during the weekend, mostly because of Wimbledon, but was surprised and thrilled to find lots of clips on YouTube.

Highlights from this include Six, with those Queens doing what they do best, Back to the Future (obviously) featuring their upbeat numbers, and some surprise finds such as Roles We’ll Never Play and Bonnie & Clyde. Along with those, there were the scene stealers Wicked, Come From Away, and, of course, Phantom of the Opera.

It’s such a great idea this mini-festival of theatre and such a great way to bring a variety of shows to people that might not have experienced any musicals, or perhaps have been limited to the well known and much-loved ones. There’s so much talent out there, and even more than we see with all the understudies and swings who have been kept so busy with the pandemic.

If I were you, I’d watch through the whole West End Live playlist (except Hamilton), but if you’ve only got time for one, let’s go with this.
