Drink me
Published July 1, 2022
As always during the Apple Design Awards, this year I found myself downloading a variety of different award-winning and nominated apps. One of those was Waterllama, which is an adorable hydration tracker featuring several animals, including the titular llama, that you have to fill up with logged liquids to reach your goal.
This app was a finalist in the ‘Delight and Fun’ category and it’s easy to see why. You want to fill up the outline of each animal to reveal the final design and keep the creature happy. It’s gamifying hydration and I’m here for it.
I tried out the app for a couple of days and, of course, the habit died pretty quickly. But I have been thinking about how much I do or don’t drink and so it seemed a good time, particularly if we do manage to get any sunshine and warm weather, to try and build up those water reserves and get into the habit of drinking enough.
So, July is 30 days of Waterllama and hopefully seeing the benefits of drinking more water at the end of the month. Watch this space!
