Meet and greet

I came across a site recently that is perfect for planning meetups. Naturally, it’s called meetup.com. It’s basically another one of those sites that allows you to set up your own mini social network, and in this instance is the perfect place to plan each meeting of your online social circle.
We recently planned a Sidepodcast meet and we managed perfectly well on the wiki, but it may be that this site could have made things a lot easier. You can quickly post information and updates about the meet itself, you can RSVP if you’re planning to attend, and there’s a whole host of video and messaging options.
The other thing it does is allow you to find meets that are happening near you, if you are looking for a new group to join, or new experiences to try.
The only bad thing about the site, as far as I can tell, is the tagline of: Do something, Learn something, Share something, Change something.
That is scarily similar to that old Honda ad that gets in one’s head. (It really will get stuck in your head, don’t watch it!)
