Glastonbury highlights 2025

During Glastonbury last year, I was under the weather and couldn’t give it as much attention as I wanted, and as it deserves. So for 2025, I was determined to make up for that, especially as next year is a fallow year and there will be no festival to enjoy. I watched as much as I could that the BBC had to offer (there are five stages that are broadcast so not complaining but I do wish they could have spent some time on the Avalon stage, it looked like good things were happening there).

Three by Sugababes

So Sugababes won Glastonbury for me this year, I loved their set and it just made me realise how many tunes they actually have… and what we could have had if it wasn’t for the missing ten years of fighting and lineup changes. Nevertheless, this album was after the first change, with Heidi new to the group, but that sound so familiar and the harmonies still on point. Great tunes, and a great album all round.

Thoughts on Glastonbury 2023

I’ve been meaning to write this post all week and I admit it feels a bit late to be talking about Glastonbury Festival a full week on from when it ended. But then again, I still watch old sets from past Glasto festivals, so potentially it’s a timeless thing and it doesn’t matter how long it takes me to get these thoughts down.

Five things from Glastonbury 2022

Glastonbury returned in triumphant fashion this past weekend and it’s the first time I feel like I’ve been really properly involved - to the extent of even checking through the lineups and making a list of what I wanted to track down if possible. It wasn’t all available to watch from the comfort of my sofa, but I think I did the best job I could and caught much of the fun from the weekend. Here are a handful of my favourite moments, starting with the first and most important.

Distant past

A walk around Glastonbury Abbey is well worth it, they are exceptional ruins. Especially on a nice and peaceful day.

On Tor

I can see the Pyramid stage. That means I have practically booked my spot, right?

Pure & Simple by Dolly Parton

Pure & Simple by Dolly Parton

You have to love Dolly Parton, she has a voice that is both powerful but also stacked with emotion and oftentimes seeming quite vulnerable. There’s just something about her voice and her songs that draws you in. The album also features her full set from Glastonbury, as sort of a second half, so that’s an absolute bonus!

The Wombles at Glastonbury

The Wombles at Glastonbury

I’m not that interested in Glastonbury, really, except for the bits and pieces I get to see on TV, and the excellent Big Picture features that appear afterwards. Live music is not really my thing, and when you throw in massive crowds, mud and camping, you can count me out. However, it’s hard to ignore the headlines when they scream that the Wombles are going to appear on stage at Glastonbury. Mr C informed me of this breaking news, and I scoffed. “Yea, of course.”
