Worms has that nostalgic feeling for me, even though I wasn’t hugely obsessed with it previously. I’ve played the game and it’s kinda fun making these worms bounce around and try and inflict carnage wherever they go but the main problem is I’m just not very good at it. But this is a new evolution in the game available via Apple Arcade.
It’s in the Game
This game is exactly what you’d expect from a Worms game. There’s some kind of over-arching story that is pretty meaningless, some Professor is doing bad things and you need to hunt him through wormholes to stop him wrecking the universe. There are different worlds and lots of missions, and the worms do what they do best - throw various weapons at each other, or, if you’re me, fall endlessly into the sea.
There’s multiplayer options, and you can battle your friends or the AI enemy, but the best bit is the practice zone because that’s what I need - a lot of practice. Overall, there’s not too much to say about the gameplay because it’s exactly what you expect from a Worm’s game.
Thoughts
I think this game is pretty good if you already like Worms and know what you’re doing. I’m not sure it would be that enticing or accessible to brand new players, but I may be wrong. As mentioned, I’m not particularly good at it and I do find it frustrating when the Worms don’t do what I expected and, inevitably, end up in the sea. But it is fun, even so, and is definitely worth a look.
