Thoughts
It’s so weird how this film came into our lives. We stumbled across The Fugitive because we were looking for some old school but full on action. I went down a rabbit hole of “films like this” recommendations, and ended up picking The Fugitive because of the good cast and medium interesting trailer. We ended up loving it.
Then, somehow, Apple put the sequel up as 99p rental of the week. We only looked at it because I’ve been going on about marshals and how I hadn’t really heard of them until recently and now they’re everywhere. What are the chances?
Anyway, it was okay as a sequel but it didn’t quite live up to the first one. Tommy Lee Jones was excellent, really stole quite a lot of the scenes and it was disappointing he didn’t have anyone as good as Harrison Ford to play off. The story wasn’t as good, too complicated, and by the end, when the adorable one got shot, I just checked out, really.
The effects budget was clearly a lot bigger this time round, with the massive plane crash, a trip through the swamps, all that nonsense on the ship, etc. An okay film but it left me with a bit of rage, and mostly a wish to just watch the first one again.
