Teenager Michael Oher is surviving on his own, virtually homeless, when he is spotted on the street by Leigh Anne Tuohy. Without a moment's hesitation she invites him to stay at the Tuohy home for the night. What starts out as a gesture of kindness becomes much more as Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family despite the differences in their backgrounds. As the family helps Michael fulfill his potential, both on and off the football field, Michael's presence in the Tuohy's lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own.

Conclusions
As a Sandra Bullock fan, I should have wanted to watch her Oscar-winning performance in this true story of lives being changed. However, knowing that it was likely an emotional one put me off because I built up that wall of never crying at anything ever.
Recently, I’ve been breaking that down a bit and so we finally got around to watching it.
It’s such a great film. The story is pretty simple really - one family extend the hand of friendship and love to someone that really needs it. There’s none of the Hollywood drama - I was expecting real injuries from that car crash, or the marriage to breakdown, or something awful. It didn’t need the drama, the characters and the journey were enough.
And yes, I cried. The notes above mostly stop with fifteen minutes of film left to go and that’s because I forgot I was supposed to be writing stuff - it was so captivating. An awesome family, a fantastic kid, a great story.
Also Tim McGraw minus the beard. Bonus!
