1:27 Wow, that really makes me sad. Imagine having to be the one to change it from such a high number to nothing.
4:46 I love a kid making a movie. No kid ever did that in my school.
5:56 Is this based on Steven S as a child by any chance?
8:24 Mmm, Lionel Richtea. I wonder if there’s a soundtrack.
10:48 “He’s the deputy’s kid.” Tough life for the boy.
11:59 He’s like a chubby Dawson Leery.
16:48 Why is the train making so much honking?
18:51 That was amazing. Ah-mazing.
22:57 She’s very brave, approaching a body that is clearly going to jump out at her any second.
26:02 The car looked more beat up at the crash site, looks brand new now.
27:30 How many flippin’ children are in that house?
28:42 “I’m gonna go steal some money from my mom.” Hehe, that’s a plan.
32:36 Making models can be a good thing, see.
38:45 Good film making to hide what it is. Hope they don’t do a Jeepers Creepers.
40:11 She must be auditioning for the Thriller video.
45:44 The sound is like Jurassic Park.
48:34 “Oh my god, there’s like 14 different greys, it gets crazy.” The whimsical world of model making.
56:16 He’s a he.
1:02:03 This is so ET it hurts.
1:04:56 These people just keep going missing, not getting dead. Yet.
1:12:44 The dad has gone Rogue™!
1:14:52 “I loosened it for you.” Yes! I say that too!
1:16:21 His ship fell apart like Skittles.
1:24:41 Ohhh, they did a Jeepers Creepers. Slightly better but still…
1:34:54 Yes, there’s plenty of time for hugging when there’s a rabid alien running around.
1:40:50 Both children left their dads with a harsh word. Grateful to be reunited, no doubt.
1:43:57 Quite ET there at the end as well.

Interestingly, I had absolutely no idea what this film was about. I hadn’t heard of it, had no clue. Mr C had seen a trailer a long while ago and knew he wanted to see it, he was actively counting down the days until it was released for rental on iTunes. It’s oddly disconcerting to sit down and watch a film with no preparation even of the genre you are about to enter.

I really enjoyed this one, although there is so much Spielberg in it, it’s almost embarrassing. The train crash is absolutely incredible, we watched it several times over, agog every time. The ending was a bit less inspiring and I really was irritated that they revealed the alien. It wasn’t so bad, but I hate that they worked so hard to keep it hidden and then eventually revealed it, with its massive nostrils and everything. Oh well. The kids were brilliant, I loved their conversations, and that they all had a part to play in the adventure. Good stuff.
