0:12 Well, the rings are clever. That’s a good start.
5:26 300mph hey.
6:25 He dropped the turtle!
7:54 “These are my people and I am their lovable space creature.”
15:00 Playing every position in a game of baseball is a bit much for my brain.
19:02 The moustache though!
26:40 “Because you talk to donuts and then eat them if they get out of line.”
37:35 I like poofy-haired Sonic.
39:37 I have a similar amount of self-control.
44:00 “You’re gonna bucket list with me?” Not a verb.
45:51 May not be a fan of Sonic, but his favourite film is Speed which helps.
52:44 “Your best friend is a magnet for danger.”
57:59 Fast and Furious reference!
1:04:51 Handy she’s a vet.
1:06:09 “Where am I? What year is it? Is the Rock president?”
1:08:32 The sister is the best.
1:14:08 Eggman!
1:24:26 How did James Marsden think of the exact planet when he’s only vaguely heard of it?
1:27:11 Brunch!

I was expecting nothing from this movie. We all know the history about how the first trailer made movie fans so outraged that they went back to the drawing board and redesigned the little blue devil. That’s not an auspicious beginning.

I suspect we would have avoided this like the plague if it hadn’t been one of those early releases to digital that we are devouring. I probably still would have avoided it, but Mr C was insistent, and I owed him one after Star Trek.

Actually, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. The story basically makes sense, there were a couple of moments where I laughed, and Sonic at least didn’t look horrific anymore. But it really wasn’t a good movie, Jim Carrey’s star-power couldn’t cover the fact that he didn’t really have any good lines, and I just felt sorry for Marsden having to act against nothing for most of the time.

It was fun to see Tails at the end, but probably a bad sign if the best bit was technically after the movie had finished.
