5:53 I’m with Christine Baranski, this town is far too twee to continue existing.
8:28 You can’t evict someone and then trust them to do your hair the next day, surely?
14:08 That little mail van is the most adorable thing.
16:21 “Guess he figured a root canal was better than facing you.”
25:42 The Keeper of Memories sounds like something out of Harry Potter.
29:09 “I’m gonna get change out of you one way or the other.” LOVE DOLLY.
30:37 Got to be worried about a contract that says ‘don’t read this part’.
32:40 Angel meddlin'.
40:37 “Never has speak of the devil been more appropriate.”
48:46 This kid bartender is the greatest.
52:08 “Maybe every kid should be raised in the back of a bar.”
1:00:53 I’m not sure even Dolly is allowed shoes on the kitchen counter.
1:06:15 Now guessing which villager the baby grows up to be.
1:10:52 “Divas gotta leave early.” That’s cute.
1:16:02 “Grief is love with nowhere to go.”

1:26:20 Test results in the middle of the street.
1:36:57 I can’t believe Felicity got her angel status though, she didn’t do anything!

Thoughts

This is a work of art - a brand new Christmas musical has just popped up out of nowhere! It’s not perfect, the town is ridiculous, Dolly is as camp as ever, and I have a few questions about the story but if you put all that aside, it’s lovely.

A new take on the Scrooge concept: bad landlord wants to evict everyone but is shown the light via an incredible child bartender, and learns a lot of things about her own history along the way. The songs are great, and the story heartwarming and Dolly is fantastic.

I’m not sure the angel-in-training earned her wings, I do wonder why the best friend didn’t know anything about what happened, and to be honest, everyone in that village seemed so nice they would never have judged her. But hey, you’ve got to create the drama somewhere! Brilliant festive nonsense, well done Dolly!
