| 1:36 | Watching Fired Up before this was probably a mistake. |
| 5:32 | Such 90s tunes, I love it! |
| 6:31 | “She puts the whore in horrifying.” This one doesn’t work. |
| 11:36 | “So is that your band or something?” THE CLASH! |
| 17:39 | Having a sad realisation where Pitch Perfect got all its ideas from. |
| 19:47 | “You’re the best, we know it. They just reject the unfamiliar.” |
| 26:23 | “Look on the bright side, it’s only cheerleading.” |
| 27:51 | That spirit stick is pretty cheap though, the gems all fell off the second it hit the floor. |
| 38:08 | “Dude, you just lost.” No comeback to that. |
| 40:43 | Toothbrush flirting. |
| 44:50 | Ugh, the car wash. |
| 52:51 | Having a fight with a tiny cheerleader is hilarious. |
| 1:02:08 | Wow, this college boyfriend is the worst. |
| 1:05:10 | Cliff sounds just like Busted. |
| 1:12:55 | Having epic flashbacks of the CD walkman. |
| 1:25:26 | The routines are amazing, but the inciting cheers is embarrassing… am aware that is the point of them though. |
Thoughts
I’ve wanted to watch this film for ages, and it’s never been available, so it was on our list of films to keep on searching for with little hope. But then, hooray, it’s recently been released, so it was an immediate must watch. I’ve seen it before and remembered it being good but I honestly couldn’t have told you a single thing about it.
Thankfully, it lived up to my own self-imposed hype and was really good. Elements of it maybe haven’t aged as well as you’d like, even though it’s only been twenty years, but still, it’s another one of those fun teen girl high school rom-com movies that are just a good watch. So much of it reminded me of Pitch Perfect, too, it must have inspired quite a lot of that movie.
