Time Comment
1:26 Helicopters always look so weird in slow motion.
4:35 “Five thousand acre Disneyland.”
8:49 Computer sales. Ha! Is that what they’re calling it these days.
10:36 “These walls have more leaks than a submarine with a screen door.”
14:16 Do not trust this friend guy as far as I could throw him.
18:04 He’s such a lovely president.
20:53 Woah. This drone situation is new.
23:15 So hard to swim with your clothes on, but not with the threat of drone attack, I suppose.
29:08 Love how Jada is tiny but I would absolutely not mess with her.
32:51 It should really be called Guardian Angel Has Fallen then.
45:13 “I ain’t dying for this, Bobby.” All fun and games until they start messing with a trained person.
48:53 Nice truck.
52:10 I don’t mind the jibe about Russia meddling in an election but how does that stack with Morgan being president for so long?
57:19 “They’ll take it. Your honour, your youth. Your life.”
1:01:58 Well the dad is the best thing in the movie so far.
1:15:05 Lucky he’s a nurse then.
1:18:55 Jada! These films do NOT like women.
1:23:15 Very undignified, arguing in front of the president like that.
1:27:34 Power has never transferred back? How interesting.
1:33:27 Ooh, that silent infiltration is creepy.
1:37:40 That is clever. Different room.
1:40:57 Handy rocket launcher.
1:45:07 …is it allowed to put in real footage of people like that? Sure Putin wouldn’t approve.
1:51:45 Take care of the upstairs.

Thoughts

We’ve had a sort of love/hate relationship with these ‘Has Fallen’ movies, because they’ve not been very good but they are completely entertaining so it’s not the end of the world. I’m not sure we would have gotten around to this one if we weren’t looking for something particularly action-heavy and thinking-light.

I’m glad we did end up watching it though, because I thought it was actually really good - potentially the best one of the series! Butler isn’t an all-out bad-ass, his character is getting old and struggling with the aches and pains and mental health problems you’d associate with a life in the Secret Service.

He’s facing off against the bad guys again, and there are some slightly over the top sequences, but actually I thought it was clever in places, the story totally stacks up, and I enjoyed it. The only sour point was killing off Jada far too early. There were only two women in this movie, and I would have liked to see her do a bit more.
