However, when Peter’s own motivations for spending time with Julieanne are revealed, will they ever be able to find real love in the makeshift Fairytale world they’ve created?

Time Comment
1:59 “Wine, sugar, and cinnamon. What’s not to love?” Where do I start?
7:50 Ah, how lucky that this is going to be a masquerade ball, can’t see at all what’s going to happen here.
11:29 Quite enjoy this debate about doing the best you can when someone asks you a favour.
16:20 What is the point of a masquerade ball if you’re going to announce everybody?
23:46 The boss’s motives are suspect. A new client and sort of stealing her assistant’s family at the same time.
29:04 Wait, is this another made up country situation? I thought it was a vitamin company or something.
43:08 I feel like the boss is also not really participating in this client as much as she should be, given it’s still her name on the line.
46:31 Always looking at the winter coats in these Christmas movies.
47:29 “If this is where I’m needed, here is where I’ll be.”
51:21 “Carlo asks…” she says as Carlo approaches, because we can’t afford to pay him for a speaking role.
57:56 Is she eating a dry, not-toasted bagel? That’s weird, right?
1:02:57 I’m now craving some of those posh shiny pyjamas.
1:04:59 “Are you aware there’s a fish in your bathtub?”
1:22:26 That’s cutlery set is hideous and not very Christmassy!

Thoughts

Yay, tis the season to watch terrible Christmas movies that all have the same cover - a happy, smiling couple, one in red, one in green, and Christmas decorations or snow all around them. Hooray!

This one is a formulaic story about mistaken identity and falling slowly in love, whilst also having the trope of a made-up country, a strained family relationship, and learning to help the community on the sidelines. It has plenty of problems, many of which I’ve made note of above, but actually if you just go with it, it’s not the worst Christmas movie out there - quite entertaining really, and some fun interactions between the brother and sister.
