Thoughts
I think this is the first of the Oz stories that I haven’t read before and as such it was quite a fun journey to take along with Dorothy. It was a relief that she wasn’t involved in a weather-related incident to start with, and instead simply got lost.
I marvel at the different scenarios are put in front of the travellers - bubbles for travelling, a land of foxes, those who would want to put them in soup. Even small things like the Love Magnet, and the array of rulers from around Oz - such imagination involved to come up with all this stuff!
It has to be said, though, that as they were saved by Ozma’s magic belt in the previous book, anytime they’re in trouble it feels a little less dangerous - because Ozma could whisk them away at any moment.
