Robert Neville is the last living man on Earth... but he is not alone. Every other man, woman and child on the planet has become a vampire, and they are hungry for Neville's blood. By day he is the hunter, stalking the undead through the ruins of civilisation. By night, he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn. How long can one man survive like this?

I really didn’t know anything about this book other than that it had been made into a film that I haven’t actually seen yet. I didn’t realise it was about vampires! But it’s a really interesting read, isolating the protagonist as seemingly the last human left without the vampire virus.

There’s lots of science in there as he tries to figure out how it all works, and I did think it was interesting trying to find the root causes of why vampires don’t like garlic or what makes stakes do what they do. The idea that there is science behind this and not just vampiric legend.

I didn’t quite understand what the motivations were of the lady at the end but I do like the way it wound to a conclusion.
