Thoughts
Interesting little book this. Posing as the autobiography of everyone’s favourite wheeler/dealer Del Boy, the book really just charts the progression of those well known characters through the course of their lives - which in reality means threading each of the episode storylines together to make an autobiography of sorts.
There isn’t much in the way of new information, a little bit of background that you might have missed, and some post-series updates that are quite amusing, but for the most part, it’s directly what you’ve seen on screen, including some of the actual dialogue that is spoken.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, as long as you know what you’re getting. It’s fun to relive the highs and lows and craziness of life as a Trotter, and it’s amusing to see how Del Boy paints over some of the worst parts and spins some of the more illegal activities to reflect well on himself. Well, you would if you were writing your life story, wouldn’t you?
