Thoughts

One of the interesting things about this series of books is that although it is our main five that are the famous ones, they do actually spend a lot of time being helped out by random children they meet along the way. This time, there’s a shepherd’s daughter who plays a pivotal role in preceedings, as the gang investigate strange goings on underground beneath a farmhouse in Wales.

Another interesting moment in this book came when Julian disobeyed the adults, went off and convinced the gang to do their own investigating anyway, and actually made the situation a lot worse. He went from being annoyed that the adults just consider them kids to realising sometimes the adults are actually doing the best job they can. A rare but insightful moment for our plucky heroes.
