Tomb Raider's next generation

Whilst we are waiting endlessly for the new Tomb Raider games to arrive (finally they are announced, at least!) there’s been the upcoming Amazon MGM TV series to focus on instead. Previously we only knew that there was going to be such a show and that Sophie Turner was playing the lead role. I find Sophie a bit hit and miss, but she was excellent in Joan so I hold out hope for another good strong performance.

This week, more of the cast have been announced including big draw Sigourney Weaver, Celeb Traitors favourite Celia Imrie, plus Paterson Joseph, Jason Isaacs and many more. With a credible cast, and penned by the marvellous Phoebe Waller-Bridge, I’m actually starting to let myself feel excited about this production.

Other big and small screen adaptations have had various success - Angelina Jolie’s Lara Croft wasn’t groundbreaking but pretty entertaining, whilst the animated Netflix show I found to be barely watchable. I’m confident this series will land on the positive side of the equation. There’s not a lot of information on scheduling or when we might be able to see the show, but hey, it can’t possibly take as long as it’s taken to make the next game, can it?
