Incredibly, it was a year ago that I posted the last of these quotes from the amazing Apple TV show Trying. Last time I said ‘in preparation for the new series, I started rewatching the show’ and hey, guess what? A new series of coming so I started dipping into the back catalogue again! Genius can’t be rushed, that’s what I say.

Jason: Did you do this?

Nikki: No, a pirate, Jason.

Nikki: Who knows? Maybe the pirate got up at 6:00 this morning and set it all up.

Jason: So let me get this clear, right, it’s a pirate’s treasure and he’s buried it and left the clues. But if he’s buried it and knows where it is…

Nikki: Yea, but the clues are for us.

Jason: Why does he want us to find it?

Nikki: You’re really overthinking this, Jase.

A key leadership lesson is managing expectations.

Nikki: What do we think the treasure is?

Child: A puppy!

Jason: This is going to end well.

Scott: Well, that’s the great thing about Nikki isn’t it? She finds everything difficult. Which is a good thing, you know, because she just keeps on going.

Meanwhile, the treasure hunt continues.

Jason: You’ve gone about taping packages to five London landmarks. You’re just lucky you haven’t been shot.

Do they know what they’re getting themselves into?

Jason: Self-preservation this, mate. They fall asleep three minutes before you lose patience and abandon them. Then they look so sweet and adorable that you forget how unbearable they were. Then it happens the next day, then 7000 more times, then you drive them to university.

Nikki: Sounds fun.
