Knit bits - The hot water bottle cover

Published December 13, 2023

After a very minor scalding incident with a hot water bottle, I realised that there was a lack of HWB covers in the house and that I could probably whip one up quite quickly with a bit of leftover yarn. I sourced this super easy pattern, and even though I was using slightly different weight yarn, it worked out so well.

The pattern is so easy, increase a little, knit stocking stitch to the top, decrease a few, and rib round the neck. I ran out of my main yarn just as I got to the neck and had to switch, but doesn’t it look like that was entirely intentional?

I’m stupidly proud of this because it was super quick, it fitted perfectly for the job it was intended, and looks really professional even though it was mostly just leftovers. Sometimes things do just come together like that.
