Q2 movies - It's not what you believe

Even though the time and inspiration to watch films (particularly new ones) is still eluding me somewhat, I’m starting to feel just a shimmer of excitement about what’s upcoming. These quarterly sneak peeks at the fresh releases are helping no end, and this quarter feels quite blockbuster heavy. Let’s see what we’ve got in store.

  • On a Wing and a Prayer. This doesn’t look all that great but is an interesting concept and it’s been a while since I saw Dennis Quaid in anything.
  • Super Mario Bros. Do we know why this exists yet?
  • Ghosted. Loving the look of this, action and fun all in one. It’s nice to see Chris Evans being goofy again, after so much Marvel seriousness.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol III. I get less and less enthused about these GotG movies but this seems like the final one so it’s a must watch. Who am I kidding, any Marvel is a must-watch.
  • Book Club 2: The Next Chapter. The first Book Club movie was an unexpected delight so happy for these awesome ladies to get back together and have another adventure.
  • Fast X. Where else is there to go now they’ve been to space?
  • The Little Mermaid. If I’m honest, this isn’t one of my favourite Disney animations but as a live action, it’s a must watch if only because of the idiots complaining about it.

  • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The first one was most excellent, so just trust the process.
  • Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Is this franchise still going? How far behind am I at this point?
  • Elemental. You can never tell how these Pixar movies are going to go, but I’m trying to be open-minded.
  • Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. So, I abandoned the Indiana Jones franchise midway through the second movie when there was a snake-eating scene that still makes me heave. But now they’ve thrown Phoebe Waller-Bridge into the mix and its’ making me want to get back on board.

I’ve only managed to watch ten films so far this year, I wonder if any of the above will help progress those numbers further!
