Podcast of the Month - Office Ladies
Published October 29, 2019
The US version of The Office has been off air for over six years, but it is barely out of the public consciousness and rarely a day goes by that I don’t see an Office gif fly by on my Twitter stream. The success of the Office didn’t diminish the brilliance of the original UK version but it certainly dwarfed it in popularity – spreading its wings to be much more of an ensemble piece, and covering far more ground than the original two series ever could.
So, it’s no surprise that with the show still as fresh as the day it first aired, there is appetite to hear more about it. Two of the long-time cast members Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey have teamed up to bring us a podcast called Office Ladies that digs deep into every single episode of the show, starting at the very beginning.
The Office co-stars and best friends, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, are doing the ultimate The Office re-watch podcast for you. Each week, Jenna and Angela will break down an episode of The Office and give exclusive behind-the-scene stories that only two people who were there, can tell you.
In the opening episode of the podcast, Angela and Jenna talk about how they became firm friends during their time in the office, and wanted to do something to work together again – how great for it to be talking more about the show that brought them together in the first place?
There have been two episode recaps so far, with the pair bringing us behind the scenes gossip, facts from their own heads and from the internet, and deep dive discussions on motivation, scripts and unseen moments from the show. They can be a bit excitable, and my x2 speed listening habits meant this was a lot to take and needed to slow down a bit, but it’s a great listen. Such enthusiasm for the show, alongside insider knowledge and facts that you may or may not already know.
The only question it raises is whether to watch the episode before listening to the podcast, in preparation, or to watch it afterwards and spot all the things they were talking about.
