How do I get to be Christine 3.0?

Published August 8, 2010

There are lots of things the internet is good for, but handing over control of your life to internet users for a year would never have struck me as one of them.

The newest show on Revision 3 is called Dan 3.0 and it features Dan as he takes a year out of his normal schedule to do what the people on the internet tell him. It’s a strange idea, but from what I can see, it’s full of promise. It’s kind of like a video version of something Dave Gorman or Danny Wallace would do. (Must be something to do with the letter D!)

Dan’s only been at it for a week, and it looks to have been a week full of set up and working out how things are going to… work out. A couple of the videos have already made me chuckle though, and I recommend having a look back through the five videos that have been posted so far to fully understand what is going on.

The latest video is my favourite, which is probably a bad thing because it features Dan going through a bit of a breakdown because of technology.

I just know that feeling so very well. Whilst making Sidepodcast, I can’t count how many times we’ve looked to the sky and yelled: “We just want to make stuff, why won’t you work!?”

It’s always worth it though, and I hope the rest of Dan’s year goes a bit more smoothly. I’m looking forward to seeing what the people have in store for him. One of the comments on his blog post where he announces he’s feeling a bit better (phew!) sums it up:

Just think about it this way: a year from now, when it’s over, you’ll be wondering what you did when the internet wasn’t deciding everything for you.
