The year of the scarf
Published December 31, 2009
Suddenly, over the festive holiday period, I have become obsessed with accessories. I have never been interested in that kind of thing before - except for an ill-fated venture into necklaces and nail varnish when I was in my teens. Since then, the only accessories I have really been bothered about are a ring from my dad, an engagement ring and a wedding ring.
Roll on Christmas, and all of a sudden, I have this craving for all things accessories. I have already mentioned the bracelet that went a little bit wrong. It is in safe hands (not mine) and being fixed as we speak. I also bought another one (with matching shoes - crazy!) to go with Christmas party clothes.
Along with that, I have another set of black beads of varying sizes that are constantly on my wrist at the moment. I also picked up a necklace to go with the dress I wore for the Sidepodparty.
All that is well and good, but the real surprise comes in the form of a scarf. The Sidepodcast Alternative Christmas Message saw me wrapped up in a coat and a scarf, and I didn’t take the purple scarf off all day. I figured the thing to do would be to go out and get one that was for general use, rather than specifically for outside. So I did. I don’t really know what to do with it, other than wear it like a scarf, but I love it.
The next question is, where am I going to store all this stuff? At the moment it is littered about my desk, which is not very conducive to productivity. This is a nice problem to have though.
