A mug's game

Published July 18, 2009

I don’t really enjoy hot drinks much, the occasional cup of tea or hot chocolate, and certainly not coffee. That being the case, I feel like I am missing out on the joy of the vast variety of mugs there are available to purchase. I was doing a little searching, for no particular reason, and came across a couple I would want, if I could justify buying them only to sit in my cupboard and collect dust.

One Sugar or Two Mug

One Sugar or Two

I really like the idea of this mug because it saves the endless questions, or if you’re doing a round at work, making a list of who takes what. My only problem with this is what if you change your mind. People often cut sugar from their diets at a whim, and then the mug will be out of date!

Another way of telling people what you want without actually having to tell them - and this time it solves the problem of trying to describe how strong you want your drink. No longer will you have to find examples of different colours of brown, you can just point and enjoy your drink to your taste.

Ah, this is genius, no? I can see two problems with this though - firstly, the chocolate will melt, surely? And secondly, you’ll get less drink!

On/Off Mug

On/Off Mug

Using the magic of heat sensitivity, this mug can tell you when the contents are still hot (On) or when they are stone cold (Off) and you need a replacement. This is good if you like your drink a certain temperature, then you can pick the right time to enjoy it rather than burning your tongue.
