Franck @ Autosport - IRL

Published January 11, 2009

As mentioned in a previous blog entry, Mr M turned up at the trade show in Birmingham, and he had plenty to say for himself.

He’s been pretty quiet recently, after finishing up his year with ALMS, and he turned up at the show on behalf of Peugeot Sport - his Le Mans team. He wasn’t the only member of the squad there, but of course, he was the most interesting.

Talking of his future plans, Franck admitted that the credit crunch had affected what he wanted to do quite significantly. He had wanted to continue his work with AGR, and get to grips with IndyCar on a full time basis. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look like it will happen, as the motorsport industry stalls:

We wanted to work together for a couple of races but it looks a little bit difficult - but I’m still in contact with them and I still hope to do some stuff with them, especially in the Indy 500. That’s something I’ve really wanted to do.

I tried the car on the ovals and road courses and I feel happy with the car, the team was really happy with me. When both parts are very happy you can make it happen, so we’ll see.

It’s a shame that Franck can’t work with them full time, but if he does secure an Indy 500 seat, that is at least entry into a prestigious event - a chance to get his name out and about, and let people know he’s still racing.
