Time Comment
2:48 Just realised we were supposed to watch the other ones we missed in the DC universe. Oh well.
4:02 Baby Wonder Woman is adorable.
6:24 “When time was new and all of history was still a dream.” Beautiful idea.
17:05 Ooh, they’re on earth? Amazing.
21:16 They could teach Legolas a thing or two.
31:08 “You let this little thing tell you what to do?” She’s gonna hate Apple Watches.
40:10 Understatement of a lifetime. “This war is a great big mess.”
41:38 Explaining marriage to someone is surprisingly hard.
48:16 A ticket to war. Oof.
54:47 She literally disobeys every single order.
58:50 Rogue elements.
1:19:09 Loving Diana’s tank rage.
1:24:18 Etta is my absolute favourite.
1:30:57 I’m definitely going to start saying “et voila” more often.
1:45:24 Sense of relief lasted for… about thirty seconds.
1:50:31 Those searchlights have shined in her face many times, they are useless!
1:54:45 Made the mistake of saying it was like “Earth Song” and now it really is! Can’t unsee it.
2:02:09 Wonder Woman rage is incredible.
2:02:19 Captain Trevor slightly doesn’t sound right though.

Conclusions

Been waiting for this film ever since the first trailers appeared, and there was so much fuss over it - the first proper female led superhero movie in a long time. I was supremely glad to see it, and not only because it was a good film but also because it didn’t stand out for me for being a female superhero movie. In fact, it stood out only in so much as it was a great superhero film and certainly the best one that DC have made in a considerable amount of time.

What was wonderful about the film, was that, all things considered, it was unremarkable in its genre. It had the traditional origin story beginning, the almost necessary undercurrent of romance, and it had a handful of flaws leaving me with just a few more questions. That’s what makes it brilliant. The fact that this movie is breaking ground is fantastic, but what’s even better is that as a film, it slots right into the umbrella brand as though Hollywood has always been making films like this.

And, of course, the film is fantastic for it’s brilliant message. Love, really. Humans can be rubbish, but they can be also be awesome, and in the end, it just comes down to how you choose to behave and how you choose to love.

I, for one, am going to choose to be more like Etta Candy. What a hero.
