It’s 1947 Hollywood and Eddie Valiant, a down on- his-luck detective, is hired to find proof that Marvin Acme, gag factory mogul and owner of Toontown, is playing hanky panky with femme fatale Jessica Rabbit, wife of Maroon Cartoon superstar, Roger Rabbit. When Acme is found murdered, all fingers point to Roger, and the sinister, power-hungry Judge Doom is on a mission to bring Roger to justice. Roger begs the Toon-hating Valiant to find the real evildoer and the plot thickens as Eddie uncovers scandal after scandal and realizes the very existence of Toontown is at stake.

Thoughts
Mmm, I love this film. I’ve seen it many times - mostly when I was younger. I haven’t seen it for a long time, but the BBC put it up on the iPlayer and so I instantly knew that it was going to be my next Film Watch.
I was surprised at how well the film holds up, considering it is over 20 years old. Of course, animation ages differently to live action, and that probably helps. As an adult, I was slightly disappointed with how many similarities I could see between this and Back to the Future, but equally, that probably helps endear it to me more. It’s a great film and I love it. Watching it as an adult hasn’t ruined it for me, which is not always the case.
