Thoughts
I believe this to be one of those films that isn’t great but earns itself a cult following and is therefore beloved. I can totally see that. I really liked the camaradarie between Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward, and the tone of the movie is great, a little bit horror but quite a lot more comedy.
I think the reason it misses the mark for me is that there could be a really good film in here - the premise is great, but the monsters are just ridiculous. There’s a moment where the doomsday couple realise they had planned for everything except attack from underground and I think there’s so much potential terror in there… but it’s just one fleeting moment in the movie.
Anyway it was very entertaining but I don’t know if I can say it was actually good.
