Thoughts
This is pretty much exactly what you think it’s going to be - bright and colourful and a huge cast of voice actors and their best efforts at bringing to life these well-known characters. It’s not brilliant, but it’s entertaining and there’s enough nostalgia to pull at some emotions, so it gets by.
The trouble is it’s a slow start, trying to ground this nonsense story into the real world somehow, and give the characters some backstory and character, although I’m not sure it really worked. In all honesty, Seth Rogen stole the show and that made it more of a Donkey Kong movie than a Mario one, but hey, it was fun!
