The Longest Yard is the story of pro quarterback Paul Crewe and former college champion and coach Nate Scarboro, who are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarboro to coach the inmates to victory in a football game 'fixed' to turn out quite another way.

1:43 Monica!
3:46 One side effect people don’t consider when coveting a walk-in wardrobe - getting locked in!
6:10 That is sticking it to the man.
7:54 Ooh, that’s more than a scratch.
10:01 Is that William Fichtner again? I swear he is stalking us.
10:58 There’s a lot of punching going on in prison.
15:11 Imagine having hair you can keep a spoon in like that.
17:46 What kind of ball bearing grenade was that?
23:41 “Will you teach me to football?”
36:36 He’s amazingly confident.
38:47 I like the subtle blue of these prison outfits.
43:56 What an utterly terrifying conversation, and all while playing ping pong!
46:23 “Run Forrest, Run!” Hehehe.
46:34 Surely it is far too hot to run on that dust outside with no shoes on.
50:08 How many flippin’ players do they need?
55:45 That’s probably quite nice in the heat of Texas. Bit muddy though.
1:00:06 Can you do toasts for 3-5 years hence?
1:04:28 Horrible little snitch.
1:09:48 Barbed wire all round the stadium. Just in case.
1:12:29 Finding a good commentator can be tough.
1:14:39 Did they really think they’d want to do anything other than beat up the guards.
1:19:23 He’s got opera glasses at a football game. I approve.
1:20:00 “He’s so big, it’s like being tackled by a coke machine with legs.”
1:24:27 Is that a real ESPN person?
1:26:54 He won’t do it. Can’t control the guys anyway.
1:33:34 Impressed at his ability to just keep on getting up again.
1:36:04 I’m struggling with my lack of football knowledge, but I can tell what’s happening from who is cheering and who has their heads in their hands.
1:40:46 How can you do anything in six seconds? It’d take me that long to work out which I was meant to be going.
1:46:13 Why is he changed though? Was it just the beauty of the game?

I think we got to this one because we have enjoyed the last few Adam Sandler films we’ve watched and were curious what else he had done. The trailer seemed interesting enough, although I’m always worried about films centred around American sports that I know very little about.

Really enjoyed this film, although it was not what I was expecting at all. I thought it was going to be all out comedy like we have seen recently, but it was far more serious than that. I also wasn’t aware until afterwards that this was a remake. The comedy that was in there was good though, laughed a lot and liked the story.

Didn’t really like all the punching. The twist in the middle was shocking. Liked the ending very much.
