Conclusions
This is such a lovely film. Simple, heartfelt and heavily character based, it really rolls along nicely. It’s surprising, really, that Robert de Niro’s character doesn’t have much to say other than “yes m’am, no m’am” but he can make such a difference to everyone’s lives.
I suspect the film won’t be to everyone’s tastes, particularly at the beginning. It’s very much about starting a new job and plenty of office-based conversations, so if you’re looking for a break from work, this might not be it.
But that’s what makes it resonate so well, they feel like real people doing real things and struggling to find a way to make it all work - to find that work/life balance we all crave. Loved it.
