1:25 | I do love magic stuff. |
3:38 | Well, that’s a fixer-upper. Not good to walk in and be just as wet as outside. |
5:03 | Too early for snakes, surely. I knew there were some in this but oof. |
7:13 | She left her locker open… with or without the noose. |
8:03 | Just translated that French class in realtime to Mr C. Impressed myself. |
10:58 | The third one doesn’t have a defining characteristic to be gossiped about? |
18:48 | Sounds a lot like the Force. |

28:53 | “We are the weirdos, mister.” |
34:07 | Seems incongruous to be a witch at a convent school. |
38:22 | You’ve got to watch Bewitched to do your homework. |
45:30 | I don’t remember anything from here on in so it’s all a bonus. |
46:19 | “What a dear sweet man.” |
58:48 | Little cameo by a Baywatch lifeguard there. Adorbz. |
1:06:29 | I like the full-on witch look, black dresses and jewellery and stuff. |
1:16:39 | You can’t trust anyone though. Who’s to say the shop witch is a good one? |
1:23:10 | Might have forgotten the extended snake sequence when I opted to watch this again. |
1:33:28 | “Tricky, tricky, tricky.” |
Thoughts
I’ve seen this a few times but not for a while and I could only remember the first hour or so. Turns out there was a good reason for that. The first hour is great - teenagers discovering their inner selves and getting some power and learning how to use it. You can see why Little Mix used this as inspiration for their Black Magic video.
Suddenly, though, the movie takes a sharp turn into the horror territory - hard to watch, and really quite disturbing. It lets the rest of it down.
