Time Comment
1:09 I really hate the fanfare because it tricks me every time.
5:20 The advertising industry gave him another chance then.
5:55 DeLorean!
9:55 Why does Paulie hate Rocky all of a sudden?
11:55 “Nobody owe nobody nothing. You owe yourself.”
14:53 “Ever fight a dinosaur, kid? They can cause a variety of damage.”
23:23 Why are they driving round the house in a little car?
27:50 I feel like that’s not the appropriate setting to announce your retirement, bless him.
31:57 I mean, you can see why he did it, but gutting to realise your ten fights have been set up like that.
34:27 It can’t be conducive to good training to be a tourist attraction.
36:29 Not the training montage I was expecting.
40:13 They’re having a fight before the fight!
46:07 There’s more boxing in this film. Not coping.
57:01 “You had that eye of the tiger, you had that edge.” TITLE!
1:05:06 I want an Apollo Creed in my life.
1:09:10 You kind of get the feeling Apollo should just fight him instead.
1:14:39 This woman had, like, six words in the last two films. Now look at her go.
1:17:37 Slow motion running in California, we might as well be watching Baywatch.
1:19:39 He just said “I pity the fool!” Wrong show!
1:29:03 It’s so hard to watch the fighting. At least we know he survives, he’s in Creed II.
1:36:05 100% rooting for Apollo and Rocky to get together.

Conclusions

Not a huge amount to add commentary-wise to this one over the previous Rocky’s, I really enjoyed it - it felt a bit weird that Apollo suddenly changed sides like that, but the way it was written made sense and you soon get used to it. Like I said above, that’s a bromance I really want more of!

You could tell the budget has been creeping up film by film, bigger cast (Hulk Hogan!), change of locations, and there was more boxing in this one than in the previous two. It’s kinda what I expected from the first one and was really quite stressful. But, on the positive side, that’s just because I was so invested. I’d lived through the training with Rocky, the highs and lows and the inspirational speeches, and I wanted the right outcome.

Bring on the next!
