0:32 Definitely wasn’t expecting it to start in black and white.
0:44 BUNKER!
6:28 See, that’s the problem with listening to the radio in your car. Other people are probably listening and singing to the same thing.
11:30 “That’s home entertainment.” “I feel very entertained.”
14:13 His second favourite civil engineer. I don’t think I could name a single civil engineer, let alone have favourites.
20:16 Smoke and run.
22:23 Heheh, I love it when a car is stuck in a small place. Like Austin Powers.
29:42 “Safety first, then teamwork.”
35:35 Not sure I’ve seen a film with daylight savings in before. Always a pain.
36:54 “Talk radio, so boring. The car just committed suicide.”
43:44 Dust buster!
52:16 He just let himself into their house, as though he owned the joint.
59:16 Smoking weed mostly seems to involve a lot of bad dancing.
1:03:55 Ha! Love his leg stuck through the window.
1:10:54 “The monkey’s out of the bottle.”
1:19:44 Coming back as Jude Law is something to aspire to?
1:23:58 BFFF.
1:32:36 “Be taller!”
1:46:24 Why would they go for breakfast and not to the hospital?
1:47:09 What about Angie?

Conclusions

As one of the earlier Seth Rogan/James Franco match-ups, this was on our list but I’ll be honest, after watching the trailer I wasn’t keen. Long hair on Franco, plenty of drug nonsense, and references there’s no way I was going to get.

But with our twenty minute rule firmly in place, I decided to give it a go and switch it off when I inevitably hated it. I was pleasantly surprised. It was much better than I expected, hence getting to the end!

It wasn’t my ideal film, I have no frame of reference for what they’re going through at all, and it was hard to get completely on board. But they were fun together, as they always are, and some of the jokes were better than I’d anticipated. Not perfect, and they’ve certainly done better since, but everyone has to start somewhere!
