Conclusions

I’ve not seen any of the Madagascar films but this penguins special had to be consumed. The trailers looked awesome and anyone who’s anyone knows that penguins are fabulous. It was your traditional children’s film - fast-paced and frantic, where you can’t even take a minute because you’ll miss a joke or a reference somewhere.

But it was brilliant. Playing on the fact that penguins are considered cute right from the very start, it grabs you and takes you all the way from the frozen ice caps to the heart of Venice. The North Wind are great, and my favourite bit (also in the trailer) with the penguin interrupting with cheetos, well I’m still laughing about it now. There’s also the great film actor references (Halle, bury them) which keep you on your toes.

If you like penguins (and why wouldn’t you?) you’ll love it, even if you’ve never seen a hint of Madagascar before.
