| 2:32 | There are many reasons I’m glad we got married on a boat. The detritus post-wedding may be one of them! |
| 4:07 | Totally impressive to start a movie with a monologue. |
| 6:31 | He has a brilliant car. Don’t put a bike on the back of it. |

| 1:27:34 | I feel like this bit is emotional but… I don’t get weddings. |
| 1:36:16 | This is chock full of wedding songs, I bet the soundtrack was popular. |
| 1:39:36 | It’s not like she’s not going to be back. I’ve seen the sequel. |
Thoughts
A classic, and one that we watched when we needed something simple and delightful. I’ve seen it before, although I can remember the sequel more than I can the original. What I do know is, and this will not come as a surprise to anyone, that Franck is brilliant!
Aside from some of the fashion, the film has held up really well. The underlying story of a man losing his daughter and/or gaining a son is one that doesn’t tire, and with the additional bonuses such as a Culkin in the family, and a Franck organising the wedding, there’s plenty to like. Steve Martin is so expressive, and the dialogue is very well done. Really enjoyed it - more than I was even expecting to.
