Conclusions
If I thought the last film was ridiculous, this one took things to a whole new level. Preposterous stunts, crazy ideas, cars literally jumping across skyscrapers, and all the while the knowledge that one way or another, we’re in for a tear-jerking ending.
Of all the crazy moments, the two standouts were the running up the bus scene, and the Rock busting open his own plaster cast. The rest was great but crazy and so you had to just relax and go along for the ride.
The directors and crew did a great job with their efforts to finish the film without Paul Walker. I thought perhaps there were a few stunt scenes where you could see the stunt person more than you might have otherwise, and the car scenes right at the end weren’t the best graphics I’ve ever seen. But otherwise, it was very well done.
And then it was the end, and it broke me into a million pieces, and I have no idea why. It’s taken me a week to summon the strength to post this Film Watch, let alone contemplate watching anything else. When life impacts on art in that way (if we can be so bold as to call these films art!) it just crushes me a little bit.
