1:35 | It is slightly worrying that I can’t take Jason Statham seriously anymore. |
4:37 | Yay, Race Wars! |
6:40 | That’s Iggy! |
10:30 | “Lets me work on my stamping skills.” |
13:35 | This film has, like, the three hardest men in Hollywood. Oof! |
19:58 | Haha, kids say the darnedest things. |
20:42 | Rock has so much muscle, you could live in that broken arm cast. |
25:06 | Just realised that is supposed to still be a teenager but, urm, he’s aged. |
26:03 | “Words ain’t even been invented yet.” |
38:09 | I really do love them all just standing around chatting, arguing, bantering. |
46:36 | “Bullet proof! Can’t touch this, dun, dun, dun dun…” |
51:41 | First time ever that bunny hopping the car does has been useful. |

1:24:08 | Do these people never sleep? |
1:28:54 | Why did they take it with them? |
1:44:37 | I properly love the Rock, he’s like a mini Hulk. |
1:50:37 | Oh god, he just climbed up all them stairs, now he’s got to do it again. |
1:56:41 | Vin Jesus seems to think all he has to do is stare at people and he’ll win, even if they have guns and he doesn’t. |
Conclusions
If I thought the last film was ridiculous, this one took things to a whole new level. Preposterous stunts, crazy ideas, cars literally jumping across skyscrapers, and all the while the knowledge that one way or another, we’re in for a tear-jerking ending.
Of all the crazy moments, the two standouts were the running up the bus scene, and the Rock busting open his own plaster cast. The rest was great but crazy and so you had to just relax and go along for the ride.
The directors and crew did a great job with their efforts to finish the film without Paul Walker. I thought perhaps there were a few stunt scenes where you could see the stunt person more than you might have otherwise, and the car scenes right at the end weren’t the best graphics I’ve ever seen. But otherwise, it was very well done.
And then it was the end, and it broke me into a million pieces, and I have no idea why. It’s taken me a week to summon the strength to post this Film Watch, let alone contemplate watching anything else. When life impacts on art in that way (if we can be so bold as to call these films art!) it just crushes me a little bit.
