Thoughts

Honestly, this was so funny. It’s stupid and ridiculous - a kind of cross between Monty Python and the Naked Gun films. Everyone is an idiot, the humour comes thick and fast and can vary from subtle and sublime moments to low-brow poop jokes. And yet, I laughed, a lot. And even while I was saying ’this is so stupid’, I was still laughing as I said it.

The cast are great, giving just the right balance to actually telling a story and running around like a bunch of clowns, and even though it’s predictable, it’s sort of meant to be. The bonus moments, like Tolkein’s little ideas and the nods to Downton Abbey - plus all of Jimmy Carr’s part - all brilliant. He kept doing the same thing over and over, and I kept thinking, this will get old soon, and it never did.

So it’s not an entirely original idea, perhaps, but there aren’t a lot of spoof films out there like this at the moment, so definitely worth a watch.
