Thoughts

The first two Bridget Jones movies have been a bit meh for me, but it’s something of a cultural icon and so important to keep up with the series, particularly as a new final chapter is coming out soon. This film was a revelation. By all accounts, it shouldn’t have appealed, particularly with a focus on pregnancy and building a family, but ooh it was funny.

Emma Thompson was absolutely legendary, but all of it was funny and so engaging and good, even when it didn’t quite stack up it was totally worth it. Literally my only real problem with it is that I don’t buy Jack would have stuck around for a year if he wasn’t the father, because they have absolutely nothing in common. But overall, great film, great soundtrack, wonderful cast, gentle comedy, lots to like.
