Thoughts
Going into this film, I was expecting the worst. The Guardian review had set me up to have very low expectations: “It might be the year’s first Netflix Christmas film to come barreling out of the production line but it’s hard to imagine it getting any worse.”
But we watched and at first I thought it was going okay. I mean, it wasn’t good but it was just a cheesy Christmas movie with people learning lessons and getting in the festive spirit. There was over-acting aplenty, and precocious kids, but it was entertaining enough with a glass of wine.
Then… twenty minutes before the end… it went batshit crazy. As soon as the hot air balloon appeared, everything stopped making sense and made me hate it all. The Guardian review was NOT WRONG.
