Time Comment
0:29 I really have not watched many black and white films in my lifetime.
2:35 People got held up by cows even in the olden days!
4:22 I like the idea of having a man to shout on my behalf. Tell him what to say and he shouts it for me.
7:21 It must be really hard living out in the middle of nowhere. And it’s so dusty.
9:48 Another proud man who doesn’t want to ask for a loan?
12:38 Why is it that I can’t tell any of these people apart? Is it because of the lack of colour for distinction?
16:33 I’m not 100% sure what’s going on.
20:10 “You know you look skinny?” is that meant to be romantic?
24:12 I wonder how many injuries occurred due to those swinging doors?
27:46 Ah, the 3:10 to Yuma gets a mention.
31:56 We’re supposed to believe that a ruffian waltzed into town, made eyes at her for five minutes and now she’ll never forget him.
33:28 A bit of this music reminds me of Robin Hood.
37:50 Why have they got this guy in their house eating dinner?
39:22 Oh, I get it. To fool his friends?
41:25 He called his kids Matthew and Mark, I wonder if they plan to have two more.
45:02 Ah, the bridal suite. Will we see any cliches like one sleeping on the chair and one on the bed?
51:49 The family won’t be too happy if they find out he’s there, watching the funeral procession.
56:26 If he is only doing it for the money, then he could easily be bought. I’m surprised they weren’t more concerned about that.
1:03:19 I also wonder that they aren’t more suspicious of every word Bill Wade says?
1:14:44 Excellent stuntsman work falling from the roof and bouncing off various sticking out bits.
1:17:11 Good lord, that woman is just going to get in the way.
1:24:41 A deliciously noisy steam train. I am looking for any sign of Doc and a DeLorean on the tracks.
1:27:42 Aw, the woman didn’t get in the way and it started to rain. Good ending.

Thoughts

I don’t know what drew me to this film. I know there was a remake recently, but I didn’t actually realise it was a remake until I spotted this one tucked away on the iPlayer. I think I just felt like something a bit black & white.

I wasn’t really expecting to like the film at all, but it was pretty interesting throughout. I did struggle to tell the characters apart, but when it got to being just about the two, particularly once they got to that room, it was good. Interested to see the remake now, too.
