If you somehow had the chance, would you do your life over? Thirty something Mike O'Donnell would. Then one mysteriously magical moment, Mike gets his chance. Thoughts
We were looking for something really trashy to watch and thought this upside down take on Big might be the one. However, I wasn’t expecting it to actually be very good! I think our low expectations made it seem better than it actually was, but still, it stood up! The premise of the magical janitor was a bit rubbish, but I think the writers were like ‘we can’t beat Zoltar so let’s just get it over with’.
Once the flip happens, it’s a lot of fun. Ned is a great sidekick, although his harrassment of the headteacher is a bit much. Zac Efron is his charming self, although it does have that slight Back to the Future problem of crossing familial lines.
Still, every time we thought there might be a flaw “surely the mum would recognise her high school sweetheart?” they sorted it (she did!). Not perfect but far more entertaining than it had any right to be.
