Thoughts
I’m usually a bit wary of reading official guides that don’t come from anyone inside the actual production of a programme or film, but this one appeared to be stacked with content from the cast and crew, so I thought I could give it a go.
It’s written as a chronicle of the history of the show, with some asides and facts thrown in to make it interesting. There’s a step by step guide to the cast and how they were chosen to make their appearance in the show, and then the best bit of the book is the series overview, that goes through each episode in turn, adding in behind the scenes nuggets of production.
Some of it is fascinating, unknown facts, others are emotional insights (particularly with regards to the death of Grandad and Uncle Albert) and all of it adds up to make you think back fondly and remember your favourite bits of such a wonderful show.
