Hit that pause button

I’ve been gradually discovering some of the fun things that the latest iOS and watchOS releases can do, but one of the main ones in Apple Fitness suddenly became very handy recently. I was under the weather recently, and I suddenly remembered the new feature that allows you to pause your activity rings on the Apple Watch. That’s right, PAUSE!

This has been a feature people have been asking for for such a long time and finally is in place:

If you need to take a break, you can pause your Activity rings for up to 90 days without breaking your award streak—and resume at any time.

I don’t really mind about the streaks and stuff, that used to matter to me but I’m more a day-by-day person now. It’s still very nice to be able to say ’no, no ring stuff today please watch’ and when looking back, you’ll know why.

I also really appreciate the ability to adjust your goals depending on the day. If there’s a day you’re super busy or you designate a rest day and know you’re not going to reach the heights of others, you can set up your scheduled goals for each day. You can also dip in and adjust for the specific day you’re in, if it’s not quite going to plan!

This customisability is great, and whilst it may lack the hard-faced motivation of a goal that doesn’t flex, it does at least reflect what happens in real life!
