90s Top of the Pops - Best episode so far!
Published August 16, 2024

The 90s repeats of Top of the Pops on BBC Four have had a bit of a break recently (Proms and the Olympics will do that to your channels) but came back with a bang with this amazing episode. It kicked off with the Backstreet Boys which was such a surprise to me that I almost choked on my drink, and aside from the next song, continued to astound and surprise.
I’m just logging this playlist for posterity, as it might be my favourite episode so far.
Backstreet Boys - Get Down
I GASPED! First sighting of the beloved Boys on TOTP. Singing live and dancing their little hearts out.
M-Beat featuring Jamiroquai - Do You Know Where You’re Coming From
I don’t know this one. Skip.
Metallica - Until It Sleeps
Not bad, but this one is the video that is the backdrop to the full top 40, so it’s just background noise anyway. We’ve had worse!
Peter Andre featuring Bubbler Ranx - Mysterious Girl
YAY! It might be cheesy but I love this song so much. It’s OUTRAGEOUS that they cut off Bubbler Ranx’s rap from this performance, it’s the best part of the song. “One kiss alone a-make my heart go boom.”
Manic Street Preachers - Australia
Really getting to the good Manics stuff now. They were just on with Design for Life and are back already with another banger.
Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me
Angel. It’s a video but we forgive. Also didn’t know this was a film which the video highlighted, and may have to check it out.
The Lighthouse Family - Ocean Drive
Iconic easy listening. Lovely stuff.
Bryan Adams - The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You
Bit of a tortured title and chorus to this one but you can’t argue with some 90s guitar rock.
Baddiel & Skinner & The Lightning Seeds - Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home)
Number One! And now such a national treasure. Thirty years of hurt, yea maybe, but thirty years of singing this song has helped!
